busan 3d2n (iii) (day 2 part 2)
Yay after 6 whole months, i'm gonna continue to blog about last year's korea trip! lolol. Thanks shan and lynny and jy for the reassurance that you guys are still reading this space hahaha. just in case you've forgotten where i stopped like i did, here is the link to the previous post! Right so after we went back to hostel, we (or was it just i) changed and then packed and booked out. okay murky memories here. i think we couldn't decide where to go/meet JB so we stayed at the common area in the hostel for a bit. we then went out and was walking to someplace when we met JB on the way. while walking around, i remember eating this hoddeok and IT WAS FREAKING DELICIOUS. it was made by this ahjumma by the roadside and its like... i don't know how to explain. got this picture off google. its like the middle part is this sweet gooey caramel-ish thing and filled with nuts and the ahjumma was making it on the spot so it was hot and crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside with nuts to chew on. sooo good. but soooo hot it burnt my tongue lol. and it only cost like 1.50 i think. then the four of us went to eat lunch. i was asking joyce to recommend like some famous food in busan since she stayed in busan for like 2 weeks the last time she went to korea. and she recommended twaeji(pork) gukbab(rice in soup). so the four of us went to a restaurant that claimed it was the original one. it was not bad, pretty good. also very comforting to eat. (i guess thats a trait of busan food maybe? hahaha) after lunch we walked around and i don't know how we sort of ended at the coast. I think cause the guys wanted to see the beach so we went back to haeundae and walked and walked along the coast. while walking, we saw like a few ahjummas picking stuff from the rocks at the bottom of the slope, where it was near to the waters so i went down to check out what they were doing while the rest waited for me on top. Turns out that they were catching tiny crabs!! the ahjumma whom i talked to. SOOO CUTEE~~ and so pretty omg. giant seashell that i picked before climbing back up which i gave to jp for her crabitat. so i climbed up and climbed down again when we saw a tiny tent with a family sitting inside. a pic of me trying to talk to them haha but this family isn't as friendly but still allowed me to take some photos. hahaha. they were trying to dig out the things in sea urchins i think. now that i look back at all these, where did i get the courage and thickskin-ness from? hahaha was it the motto that i set for myself before i went there? If you're shy you lose. we then wanted to go to this famous temple that according to jj is built on top of the sea. I think we wanted to take a bus or train to the temple at first but lol we know nothing about that place other than its name which we got off this brochure thing so we decided to take a cab. Thank God we took a cab~ (more will be explained when we come to the korea trip THIS year.) ![]()
People watching noisy jetskis (??) that came to rest in the bay and disturbing the peace and quiet of the temple life.
Sop and her bff no.1.
the temple was pretty big. there was this part where you have to climb down a short flight of steps to this cave-like place.
there was another part that was quite high up and you have to climb up this steep and uneven flight of step to reach.
the view from that high point!
sop with her bff no.1
as you can probably tell, we spent quite long there, looking at the view, taking pics and basically waiting for YC to arrive.
Eventually we got tired of standing around so we went down to buy some ice/icecream and climbed over some fence to this sort of restricted area of rocks. *so badass*
trying and failing to fit everyone into the frame.
The view of the temple from where we were sitting at!
The last few minutes of my new shoes looking so clean that its blinding my eyes.
Being the curious and eager to learn geog student that i am, I went down to the rocks nearer to the waters to look at the rock cracks and formations and the livign organisms that might be living on the rocks.
spotted some mini crabs.
THE. FATEFUL. PHOTO.
Immediately after that photo was taken, I took a tiny step back to turn around to climb back up to my friends BUT. I freaking slipped and fell into the seawater!!! it was so scary omg it was a good thing i climbed right back out immediately and didn't slide down any further and i was only wet up to my shorts and didn't have any injuries. i have to say that i am really lucky at times.
And guess what the rest were doing while i was gone...
lol seriously...anyway after i try to discreetly climb back up, i told the rest about what happened and sop was like "no wonder. we were all watching you being dora the explorer then you suddenly disappear." I didn't dare to climb around after that and just sat there with the rest while airing my wet socks and shoes which are no long spanking new lol. YC and her friend came and went to look around the temple while we continued to sit there and then coincidentally JJ's friends came and they said hi and all of us went to eat dinner together. We wanted to go to jagalchi fish market (i think) so we decided to split into two groups and cab there. I remember having a really hard time trying to grab a cab cause there were so little cars. Okay lets talk about the fish market which was pretty cool. but i don't have any photos. oh wait but theres google. ![]() Ya from the outside you totally cannot tell it is a fish market. it looks like any other buildings with its neon lights and all but the first floor is like our wet market. Howeverrrrr, the fishes are not dead and lying on top of a mountain of ice shards. they are swimming, or just flapping around with so many of them dumped in one plastic container. plusssss there are not only fishes. there are so many wacky looking seafood omg it was scary to me. let me refer to my best friend google once again to provide some imagery. there was this thing that looked like the male reproductive organ and also this thing that looks like the human heart ![]() Those are the two that I really remember the most. I mean in Singapore we mostly only see fishes, shell stuff, crabs, prawns, lobsters and at most sea cucumber. I can only say that i'm not built for the sea food life. right. continuing with the fish market adventure, so there'll be like allll these rows of ahjummas with their containers of seafood and they'll be calling out to you as you walk past, bragging about how fresh and cheap their seafood are or like shouting "hey pretty girl" etc lol it was quite overwhelming. so anyway after walking one round we stopped at this one store and it was total chaos when we tried to order and before we even decide if we even want like 3 of the fishes the aunty already smacked the fishes dead everything was SO FAST. So anyway, this has been another of my regrets of this trip. as i was sort of the main translator of the group so i feel responsible for ordering idk and i think i ordered too little cause i was afraid that it would add up to a lot of money cause hello its seafood. and it seemed like a lot when we ordered. oh wells. so after we ordered, the ahjumma told us to go to fifth floor so we went to the lift lobby to wait for the lift and i saw that board that shows what was at every floor and then i realised that EVERY floor was a restaurant and there were like ten over floors omg. talk about perfect competition. so we went to fifth floor and they showed us to a room cause we had like 8 people and we had to share the room with this group of koreans and it was like kinda awkward for both parties. lol.
the only pic i have lol. one fish only had like a few pathetic pieces of meat lolol.
after that we went to walk on the gwangalli beach which was right outside and there were like ahjummas walking around and selling fireworks and brian (or was it JJ) wanted to play so they bought one and had a hard time setting it off lol. i think i might have the vid. hold on. okay forget it. don't think it was something worth watching. but setting off your own firework was fun. and then we said goodbye to JJ's friends and then YC and her friends went back to their hostel. sop and i went to a train station to get our backpacks where our backpacks were deposited. (i miss those lockers~~) then sop and i went to the toilet at the train station and changed into our clubbing gear and did our faces before taking the train to where YC's hostel was so that we could deposit our backpacks in her room while we go clubbing. so then sop, jj, brian, yc and i met up, put our backpacks in her room then walked to the club which happens to be near her hostel. but the club was like so different from the one we went to in hongdae! cocoon was like pretty small and the people there were pretty young and they just anyhow dress like we usually just wear sneakers and shorts/skirt to go in but the busan one... lolz. i totally feel like a small kid there! the place was soooo big with different levels and everyone is so tall and pretty and tallllllll. holy are they tall. the girls were all wearing these short tight fitting dresses and sky high heels and we were... lol. anw we just paid, got stamped and came out to grab some food first. i remember we walked past this street vendor and the ahjumma was making some toast for two ahjussis and it looked good so i wanted to try it and while she was making the rest decided that they wanted to eat that too so we just sat at the one table that the stall has to eat it and the auntie was so nice and funny! i remember how she gave us each a cup of this free drink (which was so tasteless but i still love you ahjumma.) and when they guys went to buy beer and came back with this 1.5litre bottle of beer, the ahjumma gave us more cups so that we could share the beer (soooo nice!! we only ordered like one grilled toast each omg) it was like ramly burger but toast version and sooo good and cheap. oh! funny memory. we were just sitting there eat and drinking when suddenly the guys took out this packet of cigarettes and started smoking while talking about how cheap the cigarettes are as compared to sg, sop, yc and i were all shocked that the guys actually smoke but we were trying so hard to give a pokerface it was sooooo funny omg. hilarious. then after that we went to play at this baseball place. and brian was such a light weight he was like twirling like a ballerina with every swing of the bat lolol it was so funny. he definitely hits better when he's not sober hahahaha. oops. so after that i didn't really wanna go back into the club cause like we're so out of place but they were like saying we just go in and claim our free drink and hang for a while since we already paid for it so we went back. and wow that place really is big and there was a smoking room. okay another difference between cocoon and that busan club: in cocoon, people were actually dancing? and jumping around and having fun. but in the busan one there was just this giiiant pool of people and everyone was just facing the stage and bouncing or bobbing their heads but there was like no performance on stage, only like a dj and this giant screen that was showing those dizzy moving things you watch last time on windows media player when you listen to a song. lol. it was so cult-like and funny. okay not gonna elaborate more about what happened in the club but brian was very funny. hahahahaha. oh oh there was this guy from ulsan who was dancing with me and we exchanged kakao and within his group there was a singaporean guy from NUS who kept asking if i was singaporean or korean lol. okay so we left the club at like 3 plus and it was drizzling quite heavily but we didn't have umbrellas so we walked in the rain to YC's hostel to get our bags. and after getting our bags, sop, jj, brian and i took a cab to this hotel where there was a jjimjilbang where we were gonna bum the night at BUT. the jimjilbang was closed~~ hahaha. so brian searched on his phone with the hotel's wifi to find the nearest one and apparently that was in another hotel and i forgot if we actually went there or not but it was also closed. and by then it was raining quite heavily and only jj and brian had umbrellas so sop shared with brian and jj and i shared one and we just walked and walked, hoping to come across a place where we can spend the night at. while walking, we walked past a few cafes that were open 24 hours and there were like people (young people not like those homeless people) just sleeping there openly wow. so we were just walking in the heavy rain, trying so hard to not step into giant puddles which were everywhere (by this time i already stopped trying to protect my new shoes cause they were so soaked lol) and we finally came across this giant building that is a jimjilbang and by then it was like 5 plus lol. to not blind you, jimjilbang ep will be in another post hahaha. just day 2 of busan alone took up like 3 post this is hilarious.
