26 july (a.k.a day 4) and also 27 july
whooo i'm on a blogging roll~
so on day 4 (which is also our second day of school plus last day of school for the week. hooray to 3 day weekends!~) after school ended, sop went out to have dinner with her friend who was also in korea for summer school while i met joyce and hazel at our school gate cause they have very kindly came to get noobie me and we took a bus to go eat shabu shabu!~
joyce and i have been going on about wanting to eat shabu shabu in korea for over a year ever since we watched EYK's FAPFAP on it.

the shabu shabu was okayokay only maybe cause we didn't go to the exact shop that they went to? idk anw i've had better stuff in korea.
MY FIRST TIME OPENING A BOTTLE OF COKE. SO FUN HEHE.
we had some fried rice at the end of it in the same pan. (many types of korean food have rice or fried rice on the menu so that you can fry the rice in your leftover sauce or soup and it is very much delicious and one of the best things about korean food.)

oh and i wore my coloured contacts out for the first time hahahaha.

we then took a bus to hongdae and met up with sop!~
bought churros and that taiyaki lookalike thing which is filled with not ice cream but... FROYO!!

and then we went to sing K at the noraebang~
Idk if you can tell from this pic but our room is damn big. too bad we didn't get the cool room that has that ladder thing that leads to a second floor within the same room itself. but its still cool!
oh oh the thing about k-ing in korea is that they don't show the MVs haha. so you're singing to random vids of ... AUDITION PEOPLE DANCING LOLLLL. (you know the computer game 'audition'? hahahahaha)
and if you're lucky, they'll give you extra time as 'service' (talking about service, korea is really the best. no other country that i've been to that they give such good service and 'service'). so anyway i think we paid for i think 1 hour or was it 2 hours but they kept adding extra time for us that we got to sing for 3 hours.
(the no. of minutes you have left to sing will be shown on the corner of the screen and whenever we only have like 9 minutes left the number will jump to 30 again.)

after noraebang session we went to buy some fried chicken, mandoo and some coke (and... did we buy beer? i can't remember) before we took a cab to the place where we were going to watch the world cup match between S.korea and Algeria.

i don't have any pictures to show it but the number of people there was craaaaaazyyyyyy. imagine christmas countdown at orchard but more people and everyone is sitting down.
anyway we managed to find a spot to settle down near (but not really plus we were blocked by a tree) the screen and we sat down at 1 am. the match was at 7 in the morning i think hahaha.
anyway below the big screen there was this stage and there were performances keeping people high and awake all the way until the match starts.

going to the toilet in the morning hahaha.
i kinda fell asleep somewhere during the match for like 5 minutes and i felt really guilty hahaha.
anyway it was quite sian that korea lost.
but it was still fun and an experience that i would not forget.
the first time that i went out to play from when the sky is bright till when the sky turns dark and turns bright again.

after the match ended we went our seperate ways, with sop and i going back to dorm to crash at around 12 noon and we woke up at around evening time when we showered, changed and went to explore hongdae again!~

uncoordinated matching outfits!
once we got off the train station, we began to walk around aimlessly and we came to this awesome street filled with talented buskers (one of the biggest reasons why hongdae is my favourite place).
I remember the first busker that we stopped to listen to kept singing english songs that i actually know and i was so reluctant to leave but despite sop's best efforts (which happens everytime from then on whenever we go to hongdae or sinchon where there are alot of buskers hahahaha).
i love stopping to listen to buskers cause its like i'm at a personal concert where the person is performing just for me plus its rude to walk away when they're performing halfway (speaking from experience of a performer hahaha).

when sop finally managed to drag me away, we came across this restaurant which was crowded and there were people waiting outside so we decided to try it.

yummy thing which idk what its called but its just a mountain of beansprouts with pork and dduk and veggie with sauce which you're supposed to fry everything tgt. (and also rice provided at the side so you can pour in and make fried rice with your left over sauce of course~)  super filling and nice meal for i think only 8 bucks per person?

aprons provided so that you don't splatter sauce on yourself while eating. 超贴心的~

yepps after that we were just super full so we walked around until we weren't that full and we continued to eat somemore hahahaha.
the legendary seolbing! it was nice and so much better than the patbingsu we have in pb. one bowl for around 8 or 9 dollars but usually people would share so less than 4 bucks each for a dessert that is pretty filling sounds like a good deal to me!
(and after eating so many bingsus in korea, i've classified them into two types:
type 1 bingsu
FINELY shaved frozen milk (not ice) that melts in your mouth like you're eating snow with simple toppings like e.g. just injeolmi and dduk as seen above or just red bean and dduk.
type 2 bingsu
not so finely shaved ice so its kinda like our ice kachang kinda ice that you have to crunch on with elaborate toppings e.g a whole cheesecake or like thousands of fruits and syrup orrrr plenty of chocolate sauce with chocolate cake or whatever to make you feel like you get your money's worth.
not difficult to guess which one i like better)

i also tried the honeycomb icecream which was not as fantastic as i thought it would be cause
1) i didn't buy from the much raved about SOFT TREE but instead i was drawn into this shop by the life size cardboard lee jongsuk.
(if you're in korea, there will be plenty of shops selling the vanilla soft serve plus honeycomb but the best is still soft tree i feel cause their vanilla soft serve is daebak so do not be distracted!)
2) it was the first time for me to eat a honeycomb so idk, am i supposed to chew and swallow that thing after i suck out all the honey?! cause it kinda can't be chewed apart...

also stopped by this pretty bakery where i bought a dacquois~
haven't had a dacquois since pb stopped selling it.

thanks sop for this pretty photo and sorry my face spoiled it hahaha.

kay thats it for this 2 days i guess. 2 more days and we'll be done with the first week!
anddd it is only gonna get more exciting so stay tune!~
